We only use WoolSafe approved products to clean and rinse carpets and furnishings. For stains that cannot be removed with Woolsafe products, we resort to stronger cleaning solutions which must be rinsed out thoroughly before the rest of the carpet or upholstery is cleaned.
We begin by using solvent-based solutions (enzymes that break down food proteins or solvents that can remove shoe polish or make-up oils), and if this does not work, we conclude that the stain has damaged the carpet by seeping into the fibre cuticles. Examples of such stains are rust spots, tannin from tea spillages or food-colouring. Before using colour-changing products we first obtain approval from our customer. These last-resort products are mild but deep-cleaning, and each application takes about 15 minutes before any change is seen, which is why we may charge a little extra.
The second phase of the stain removal process is only applied in extreme cases, removing the stain from the wool fibres might also remove the wool’s dye and the area could end up being lighter than the rest of the carpet / upholstery. Keep in mind that acidic stains such as urine and vomit may have already lightened the carpet fibres prior to any removal attempts.
We have a range of professional carpet cleaning pre-sprays and stain-removal solutions that break down a variety of heavy soiling, grease, and staining. Most pre-sprays benefit from a short dwell time of around 5 to 15 minutes. Carpet fibres are sensitive to differing pH of solutions and the pre-inspection would have already identified the carpet cleaning solutions for each room.

There is no requirement for you to vacuum the property before we arrive, although a good vacuum is always appreciated. Although the agent will always vacuum, a well-vacuumed carpet will reduce the time required for this step in the cleaning process.

Yes, we do, but our solutions allow us to use less water than conventional carpet and furniture cleaners. We ask to have access to hot water where possible, to fill our buckets.

We ask that you move as many small furnishings off the carpeted area as possible, such as lamps, rugs, side-tables, childrens’ toys etc.
We are happy to slide furniture to a different part of the room while cleaning. Any electronic equipment such as TV’s and computers should be moved prior to us arriving.
Large furniture, such as wardrobes and display cabinets, will not be moved unless prior arrangements have been made.

Please allow for a 15-minute grace period for arrival at the site. Upon arrival, the technician will do a walk-though with the client of what needs to be done and advise how long the clean will take to complete.

Wet carpet cleaning is described by our 7-step cleaning process. We use 2 solvents and a hot water extraction pump to remove dirt and grime from the most common types of carpets.
There are 2 types of dry carpet cleaning methods. One method uses a damp powdery compound that is thrown onto the carpet, which is agitated by using a gentle brush. Alternatively, a wet liquid is used that is highly volatile, and forms a crystal around the dirt particles deep within the fibre. This latter solution is sprayed onto the carpet which is also agitated with a gentle brush. Both methods require a thorough vacuum cleaning afterward instead of a hot water extraction rinse. Both dry cleaning methods are recommended for carpets, rugs and upholstery that consist of dye that tends to bleed or consists of natural fibres that tend to shrink or warp.

Natural fibres tend to turn a yellow colour and shrink, if subjected to too much water. Some natural fibres such as wool, require a cleaning solution with a lower pH level to maintain their structure and colour. When natural fibre is rubbed too aggressively, it will cause permanent damage to the structure. You will be able to walk on your carpets after 2 hours without feeling the wetness under your feet, however we wouldn’t advise walking in socks just yet! The carpets will only be 100% dry after just 12 hours.
